Updated: Dec 10, 2024

If you wish to be considered for the Strong Men, Strong Lives, Strong Futures Scholarship, please complete the essay by discussing how you give back to your community (college or neighborhood).

Participating in community organizations at this moment is a bit of a strain due to splitting my attention between full-time work and academia. Last year, I was a member of a non profit organization called Recession Proof Extreme (RPX). This organization joined with another that went by the name of Earn your leisure, both groups have similar missions. RPX's mission is to teach financial education to at risk youth and struggling parents, whereas Earn your leisures mission is a bit broader, their mission being to teach it to the masses. The two organization touched on topics such as; investing in stocks, investing in real estate, assets protection and allocation, and start up business fundamentals and more.

During my participation in the organization, I quickly moved up to the rank of Second Vice President (VP). My objective was to learn and create grant proposals. Every Tuesday, our national VP would engage us on zoom with education to help us exploring different funding objectives. My tenure came to a stop when the organizations separated. The unfortunate circumstance, negatively  impacted me. The notoriety of Earn your leisure brought financial education to attention and RPX was the organization that put the boots on the group to touch local communities.

Rodney an ex eagle player and his wife Erika McLeod are founders of a non profit Change our Future organization. This organizations mission is to remove barriers and labels to underserved communities. Annually they hold a sneaker ball, the even is a combination of philanthropy fashion and auction event. This event was created to raise captial for youth school supplies and scholarships. The first year I was not financially able to donate, but this year I was able to donate $250. I invited friends to the ball and they also donated towards the cause.

November 9th, 2024, I participated in a Brazilian jujitsu competition held by the organization tapcancerout.org. I raised $375 for the research and awareness of cancer.  The inspiration came from my girlfriend's best friend passing away from cancer two months prior to the competition. I have committed myself to participating in the competition and raising money ever year going forward. My girlfriend and I recently donated to a member of our group Jessica Dixon, founder of Church Girlz sneaker ball.  Jessica is staple in her church community and we stand behind her purpose. Lastly, my girlfriend and I created a group Healer Vibes. This group is dedicated to helping our 90 members with designing a lifestyle that befits them, between my extensive training experience and my girlfriend Jenea's nursing background we were able to collaborate and create a holistic group. We talk about stress, exercise and nutrition goals and every thing lifestyle.

Although, I am not currently apart of any formalized group, I am challenged to balance my altruism with the need to focus on school and work, I have found ways to contribute to both my local community and a macro community humanity.

If you dont stand for anything you fall for everything.
